August 2011
Dear Families,
The beginning of the school year is a special time filled with hope, new goals, and a sense of purpose. Children, by their very nature, make us think about the promise of the future. We see them grow–often dramatically–on the outside, but we know the inside is just as important. Cardinal Pacelli recognizes the great potential for growth in each child by fostering a learning environment where high expectations, Catholic values, and spirited traditions compliment one another. Every decision we make about our educational program is guided by these principles.
It takes many dedicated people to make a school exceptional. Our community is blessed to be supported by a network of people whose number one goal is to make Cardinal Pacelli the best that it can be. Father Smith, our new pastor, has a strong background in education. He spent years teaching at McNicholas High School and at Mount St. Mary Seminary. He understands Catholic education and is responsive to the needs of our students. Our teachers are highly qualified: fifty percent hold a master’s degree. They coach, supervise, and rally behind students in a variety of clubs and projects. Our PTO volunteers touch nearly every student in the building through their support of classroom and extracurricular activities. The Advisory Committee provides guidance over the educational program and annually surveys parents about our progress. I use that feedback to continuously improve our school. The Athletic Commission ensures that students have numerous opportunities for play. Good sportsmanship is cultivated along with athletic skills.
