PARENTS OF CINCINNATI BUS RIDERS!!
ALERT! ALERT!
May 5-9
- "Ridership Week! MAY 5-9 has been set up by those in charge of the Cincinnati bus system.
- It is a special week in the Spring when they keep track of those who really do ride the bus in the A.M. and the P.M.
- The children who ride that week are automatically on the list to request bus service for the next school year. (Children who do not use the bus on a regular basis always have a chance of being taken off the list.)
- So.... IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO CONTINUE TO RIDE THE CINCINNATI BUS, PLEASE HAVE THEM RIDE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THAT WEEK...BOTH WAYS.
- Those not riding will be pulled off the Request for Transportation list for the next school year, and it will take much paperwork to get them back on.
Again... IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO CONTINUE TO RIDE THE CINCINNATI BUS, PLEASE HAVE THEM RIDE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THAT WEEK...BOTH WAYS.
Thank you so very much,
Kathy Seal
SPORLIGHT ON OUR TEACHERS......
Mr. Banker
By: Casey Crane and Tommy Kreyenhagen
Mr. Banker has been teaching at Cardinal Pacelli for 8 years. During those years he has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. For 6th grade he has taught Religion and World History, and for 7th and 8th grade he has taught Grammar and American History. He graduated from Miami (OH) University where he majored in Social Studies Education. He has won Teacher of the Week (from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati). Mr. Banker is also involved with the church by attending masses, teaching religion, helping with June fest, going to students’ games, and coaching sports teams.
In the classroom, he uses technology through power point, the Internet, and stock education. Some his creative teaching methods are discussions, debates, and music. In the 6th grade, he reads The Essential 55 aloud to them which teaches them etiquette on how to behave in and out of the classroom. He has furthered his own education by getting a Masters, and learning new ideas and strategies through workshops that he attends.
Some special talents that Mr. Banker has are: Juggling (proven in class by using glue bottles J,) humor, and athletics. One thing you may not know about Mr. Banker is that he is a wonderful painter. Over the past three years Mr. Banker has been a two time state champ as a special teams coach For St. Xavier’s football team. Mr. Banker has a lot of things that are important to him such as: he is Mrs. Taul’s brother, he loves teaching, movies, music (Big Bruce Springsteen fan,) and horseracing (he and some friends own a horse.)
2nd Grade parents:
(and any parent wanting to pray for our 1st communicants)
Join the 2nd graders as we participate in Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, May 2nd at 9:00 a.m.
We will visit with the Blessed Sacrament. The children will be using a guided meditation to pray and listen to the Lord. These Meditation sheets will be available at the back of church on May 2nd for your use, as well.
We are a welcoming community…..
The Sacrament of First Communion is a sacrament of initiation. The parish community takes an active role in the process of welcoming these children into communion with the whole church.
Our First Communicants will receive communion for the first time at a special Mass with their classmates and families on Saturday, May 3rd. They are being invited to wear their First Communion attire to Sunday Mass on the weekend of May 3rd and 4th, so that the parish community can recognize and bless them. Please offer your congratulations to the 2nd graders that you see in attendance at the May 3rd and 4th Masses. It will help them grow in their understanding of being an integral part of the larger parish community and the importance of the sacrament.
CARING MOMS
Caring Moms is a non-profit store in Walnut Hills which allows new Mothers the joy of shopping at low prices for their child's needs. They are in need of the following items - bassinets/portable cribs, infant car seats, baby blankets, disposable diapers, baby bottles, and T-shirts, sleepers, booties (0-18 months).
Please clean out your closets, basements, and dressers in order to provide for those in dire need. The Social Action Commission will be collecting these items in the back of church on May 11 (Mother's Day!) and May 18. This is a great way for our Parish Mothers to help new Moms with their infants' needs. Thank you in advance for your contributions! Questions, call Jim Morrison at 543.0091.

CONGRATULATIONS, PRAYERS, AND WELL-WISHES
This is a busy week around school and church as our 2nd graders celebrate their First Communion and May Crowning, and our 8th graders celebrate May Crowning and head out on their 8th grade class trip to Indianapolis. The PTO participates in different parts of each of these events, and we want to wish you well. Our prayers are with all of you as you each travel through a different part of your faith journey! God bless you and keep you!
Respectfully submitted by Kim Jorden, PTO President (pto@cardinalpacelli.org )
8th Grade Announcements
There are two very important flyers in your white envelope this week: FIRST - There is a green sheet that the kids also got in class. They need to list all of their sporting activities on that sheet and either turn it back in to their teacher or through THIS WEEK'S white envelope. This information is needed for sports awards. If your child already did theirs using the flyer they got in school and turned it back in - that is great. If not, please help them complete it and return it through the white envelope TODAY.
SECOND: The 8th grade room mothers are busy putting together a hardbound Memory Book for this year's 8th grade. Each child will be individually featured and there will be group shots and class quotes etc.! This will make a wonderful graduation present! Please take a look at the flyer in this envelope and complete and return it this week. We need to pre-order them, so don't miss out on this wonderful keepsake!
